Born in Finland in 1975, Misko Iho started his creative career as a graffiti artist and expanded his talent into computer graphics during the 90s.
Before his 18th birthday, Epic Games, a renowned US-based computer games company (Unreal, Gears of War), recruited Misko as a graphic designer. Few years after, he directed his energy towards cinema and started as a visual effects artist in Factory Post, one of the leading post-production houses in Finland. During the years that followed, Misko designed visual effects for hundreds of commercials, feature films, and music videos. After the change of the Millennium, Misko followed his love for cinema and directed his first commercial. He then expanded his clientele to the rest of Europe and the US. Now living in Los Angeles, Misko is working with the top advertising agencies and directing commercials for clients like Disney, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. Misko is a visual storyteller and loves classic cinematic execution. With the background in visual effects, he feels at home with digital characters and set extensions but values the most the stories that evoke feelings and emotions at our core level. His capacity for mixing imaginative storytelling, emotions, and extraordinary visual aesthetics have led to his rise in commercial circles. Among other awards, he recently received the 'Director of the Year' award and won the Grand Prix with his film 'The Cell' at the Finnish Commercial Film Awards. Apart from commercial work, he has written and directed an award-winning short film 'The Patient,' and is currently looking for a suitable long-form project to expand his talent into feature films. We asked him to take part in our new feature on FILMANDTV.com in which we ask people with taste in film and cinema to name their favorite movies or series. He answered with 20 films as his favorites during a pandemic. You can get linked to where to watch and stream them online and if it motivates you to come up with your own favorite lists, go ahead and make your recommendation.
