If you are in the mood to watch a new music documentary, which Netflix has many of, they surprised us in 2019 with one directed by Scorsese, namely “Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story”. While Scorsese is no stranger to making music documentaries, having made one on Dylan previously, ”No Direction Home” in 2005, the style of this film was very different. In the fall of 1975, Bob Dylan embarked on a 7-month tour titled Rolling Thunder Revue. The tour was going from town to town in a carnival-style with many musicians, some joining the circus when they came to town. Being part concert movie, part made-up and part real, it is hard to keep track of what is true and not in the film, with made-up characters, photos, stories, and accounts. At one point in the documentary, actress Sharon Stone, here called “The Beauty Queen”, says in an interview with the filmmaker that she joined the tour at age 19, as the circus-on-wheels stopped for a concert in her town. As she assisted with the stage wardrobe for the musicians, she had a fling with Dylan. Additionally, the film shows a picture of Dylan and Stone together. As mentioned before, this is one of those moments in the film where it is hard to tell what is real and not. As it turns out, Stone was 17 years old when this is said to have taken place, and the photograph has been digitally altered. This is just one of the big movies Netflix has produced recently, and in 2019 alone they released almost 400 original TV series. To summarize, their library is the largest available online for streaming series and movies. Because of this, we recommend everyone to use our lists before jumping in, as we are always updated.
